FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
Renowned Architect.
Hotel: The “only” Frank Lloyd
Wright designed hotel in the USA.
Originally designed for Charles and
Warren McArthur, sons of the once Dodge franchise in Arizona.
After the depression, chewing gum magnate William Wrigley became
the new owner. The hotel was the hangout for Chicago and East Coast
plutocrats. Since 1929, it has been the playground for a long list
of luminaries: Clark Gable, Sammy Davis Jr., Fred Astaire, Johnny Carson,
Bill Cosby, Magic Johnson, Angela Lansbury, Bette Midler, Elizabeth Taylor,
and
Frank Sinatra. Ronald and Nancy Reagan honeymooned here.
Accommodations:
Elaborate design in the Wright tradition
of harmonizing the building with the terrain. Newly remodeled guest
rooms and suites have been redone in their original, desert-palate color
scheme. Permanent poolside cabanas offer ultimate in luxury with
private bath, telephone, fax service, butler and concierge services.
Features:
Meticulous gardens, 8 lighted tennis courts,
5 pools, 92 ft. waterslide, 23 pool side cabanas, and Kids Kabana
- a Learning Center; bicycle paths, putting green, croquet, lawn
chess and 18 hole putting green. 5-star restaurant and wine cellar.
